With clustered NAS systems now showing up in the enterprise, OnStor has brought out a NAS gateway, called Cougar, that doubles the processing and capacity of its Bobcat series gateways. Early users say the Cougar's compact size and low power draw make it appealing.

Recent independent surveys conducted in both the United States and Europe by provider of clustered NAS solutions,
ONStor, indicate that the majority of businesses surveyed in both regions believe that their existing storage solutions will only be able to scale for the next one to two years. Only 27% of European respondents are actually implementing storage virtualization today compared to 35% in the US.

Nirvanix announced the beta of a new set of products that attaches the Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network to a local network as a Windows or Linux filer using standard industry networking protocols. Users can then work with the applications they are accustomed to, or simply drag and drop files from their desktops to Nirvanix's storage service.
