Inject a driver into ESXi

I had my doubts about posting this one cause it definitely breaks your support. But a quick search on google revealed that it has been posted before so if you’re gonna do it why not use “my” procedure. Again I would like to stress that this should only be done for test purposes. Mark Erica was so kind to email me this procedure that they used to replace a faulty driver. The driver would be in the next version of ESXi or probably a patch but due to the severe problems they could not wait.

Is VMware VI Too Simple?

Phil Koster, a systems engineer who blogs under the name "Joe, the Consultant," has an informative post up about VMware issues. His basic premise is that VMware has made VI so easy to set up, that it's easy to not know your stuff and miss a bunch of important factors, like storage, security and networking. You need to learn how this works (or at least RTM) in order to have a properly functioning VI environment. Good stuff.

I didn’t even notice it this morning, but it was 05:45 when I woke up so that should be an excuse. It’s not only ESX 3.5 that needs to be patched, same goes for the 3.0.x hosts. So be sure to check out the patches section of the VMware website if you’ve still got 3.0.x running. This post originally appeared on Yellow-Bricks.com, author: Duncan Epping.
